About Prairie Christian Homeschoolers Group
Welcome to Prairie Christian Home Schoolers Group and our 2024-2025 school year!
This year we will be meeting on Thursdays - 5 weeks on, 1 week off, for two-10 week sessions, beginning with a fall session and ending with a winter/spring session, for a total of 20 weeks.
The last day of each session we will have a potluck and showcase.
Remember, any and all classes and activities offered at PCHS are to be an enrichment to the home school experience you as the home schooling parent offer to your children in your home. We hope to enrich and support your home schooling day with your children. You as the home schooling parent are your child's teacher, and we hope to offer your family additional resources to help with your home schooling journey.
Here is an outline as to how our Thursday group time is structured each week:
10:00-11:00 Class Block for Preschool, Kindergarten/1st grade and Elementary-High School Age with nursery available for class leaders and volunteers
11:00-12:00 Class Block for Preschool, Kindergarten/1st grade and Elementary-High School Age with nursery available for class leaders and volunteers
12:00-12:30 Sack Lunch together
12:30-1:00 Recess (Indoor in the Gym)
We'd love to have your family involved in our group and hope that you will be blessed by the support and encouragement this group has to offer.
Once you are settled into the group, I tell parents to then start thinking about how they would like to personally contribute their time and talents to our group, Maybe you would like to contribute to the nursery so that a parent with littles can lead or teach a class. Maybe you would like to help organize or teach something to the Kindergarden and 1st Grade class. Maybe you would like to help lead a grade school age class. Or maybe you would like to help lead a high school or middle school class or activity. Maybe you would like to organize gym time, or maybe you'd like to organize field trips and other activities. Maybe you are gifted in the arts or sciences and would love to pass on your knowledge and giftings to our group. Regardless, we have a space for you here in PCHS!
In the past, some parents have decided to commit to helping in an area for the entire school year, and some have wanted to commit for only one of the sessions. Either is perfectly great! We are happy to take your commitment either way.
Our “classes” are sometimes fun, elective type classes, and some are more structured and academic. Here are some ideas of the types of classes we have done in the past or would like to do in the future, but really, wherever your imagination or talents lead you, we can probably turn that into a class for our PCHS kids!
If there's something you think would be a fun class or activity but you don't know how to bring it to PCHS, we will help, just ask! Maybe you want to take on a fun class but would like to split the class with another parent, just ask, we will help arrange it!
